Is this match going to be put on the prediction league?

Youthful bench, plus a return for Michal Zyro. Subs: Burgoyne, Johnson, Goncalves, Ronan, Armstrong, Zyro, Wilson.

Three early chances for Dicko who should have done better. 0-0 11 mins in.

The Saints looking the better now. Norris makes a good save to keep it 0-0. We are shocking at set pieces.

Wilson 2-0. What a first game for the lad. Scuffed it but they all count.

That was a pleasant surprise. Don't forget to be up at 4 in the morning for the draw for the next round.

I want a good run in this. Would be nice to get to the final (Dreaming I know) and on this form who says we can't have a crack at it.

As i live in Eastleigh I went to the match last night, the first
live match for me in ages. I had to sit quietly amongst the Saints fans but still enjoyed it.
I was looking forward to seeing some of the new names and was disappointed the manager put out the second string. However, even though this was in a large part made up of last years first eleven what a great performance they put in. Knocked the ball around crisply and effectively, unrecognisable to the dreary stuff from last season - have they had some decent coaching or are they just more motivated now that they see they are fighting for a place in the first team?

Wolves could have been 3 up after 10 mins if Dicko had his boots on the right way round but he managed to make a bit of Horlicks of all three chances. After that, the Saints had most of the half without being particularly dangerous most of the time. Wolves had sporadic forays forward, coming mostly down the left wing through Vinagare showing good skills and pace on the ball.
Southampton had one good headed strike on goal but the keeper did well pushing the ball out of play and a further flurry at the end of the half that ended with the ball crossing the box just begging to be knocked in but there was nobody there to do it, thankfully

In the second half, Ronan came on and added the drive and determination in the middle that allowed wolves to take control and limit the Saints chances. Most of the Wolves attacking coming down the right wing this time. Price worked hard being the link man between defence and midfield always making himself available. In fact, it was good to see that nobody was hiding from the ball.
Then came the goals late - Batth taking his header well following a corner and then wilson taking his chance(just about got enough on it to see it over the line).

Zyro was lively when he came on as well although 30 seconds to get yellow carded was perhaps a little too keen.

You just got the feeling that the team were playing to a plan and what's more, they understood it!

A good draw for the next round should see us through to the 4th round if they play as well.
