Lacazette was sh*t yesterday. Needs to be better in the big games or he'll turn out to be a waste of money.

The PL can be tough initially, Pires and Bergkamp were c.rap for awhile when they first joined and even Henry didn't hit the ground running. Lacazette has at least bagged a couple of goals already.

I agree its doubtful he'll teach their level but give the guy a chance for f.uck sake.

Not judging him or writing him off, just thought he played sh*t.

He did play s.hit, but that doesn't mean he is s.hit.

I didn't want him before we signed him based on having watched the guy play. Those reasons are the same now, and he's not suddenly going to become stronger or faster.

Faster maybe not, but his strength is finishing inside the box anyway. You dont need to be Usain Bolt to do that.

But he can get stronger, anyone can.

Getting into the positions is harder without a burst of pace, great movement or strength. He has none of that. Will struggle when it comes to the big boys and tough packed defences.

He's a good player and will obviously score goals though.

GS this is how you make yourself look silly, by making a judgement on a player before they even have a chance to settle and then relentlessly sticking to your assessment no matter what and refuse to acknowledge in any capacity whenever they play well thereafter.
You did the same with Cech and Mustafi (who were both excellent yesterday by the way).

Sure we're only playing West Brom, but Lacazette was rather good tonight I'm sure and even the dumbest of fans would struggle to argue otherwise. Bagging two goals along the way and worth noting it is a Pulis team as well who we always tend to struggle breaking down.

Maybe judging him after all of 5 league games was a bit stupid after all ....

Yep Giroud wouldn't have scored either.

Am glad you understood my point....

Giroud wouldn't have got into that position for the first because he doesn't have any positional awareness and he wouldn't have scored the second because Alexis would have taken the penalty.

Have you ever seen Giroud be the first to act and so quickly .... hang on isn't Lacazette slow?

Was that you being proven right again?

Whether or not Lacazette is an upgrade hinges on how he deals with a loss of form, lads. The type of goals he scores honestly doesn't determine anything.

Giroud is prone to ridiculously long periods without finding the net - like, literally months - but if Lacazette is more regular throughout the course of a nine-month season then he's a massive upgrade, regardless of whether every single goal is a five-yard tap in.

The best strikers in the Premier League typically don't go more than two or three weeks without finding the net. That's what held Giroud back, which means it held us back.

Judge Lacazette on how he reacts to periods of not scoring goals. That's the only gauge. Comparing and contrasting his goals and Giroud's is a waste of time because the manner in which Giroud scored was never the issue - it was the frequency.

He's growing in confidence. You could see him expressing himself more after he scored the penalty. He has good movement, so like Shane said it's going to be about temperament when the going gets tougher
