Player Ratings vs. Doncaster.

David Ospina – 5/10
Little to do.
His kicking puts us under pressure.

Calum Chambers – 5/10
45 minutes for Chambers tonight. Overall not a bad display. But you never feel safe when he is on the ball.

Per Mertesacker – 5/10
Again nothing special.
Lack of pace as usual.

Rob Holding – 4/10
One or two mistakes could have cost us against a better team.
Not sure he has a future at the club.

Reiss Nelson – 3/10
Poor.
2 bad mistakes but got bailed out by team mates.

Mohamed Elneny – 5.5/10
Always seems involved but nothing seems to come from it.

Jack Wilshere – 7/10
A good first start from Jack and will have done him good getting game time.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 5.5/10
Not a left-wing back. Showed excellent recovery pace to bail Nelson out of trouble as he raced back to deny May a shot on goal.

Theo Walcott – 6/10
For the goal.
Went missing 2nd half as usual.

Alexis Sanchez – 4/10
A good ball to set up Theo's goal. And that's about it.
Greedy with the ball tonight.

Olivier Giroud – 6/10
Crashed an acrobatic effort against the crossbar, headed over from close range and should have had a penalty after being dragged to the floor inside the area.
2nd half tried to many fancy flicks. And he isn't up to that.

A decent 1st half which we should have put the game to bed.
2nd half we just didn't seem to turn up.
Even against Doncaster we looked dodgy at the back still.

Ospina 6 - couple of decent saves and mistakes, but not a lot to do overall.

Chambers 5 - Did ok for 45 mins, not sure why he went off at HT mind. Injured?

BFG 6 - Beaten for pace a couple of times playing such a high line but fairly solid otherwise.

Holding 6 - Couple of mistakes but also a few decent challenges. Always available for the ball as well.

Nelson 4 - Poor overall. Was disappointed to see him at WB because he isnt one!

Niles 7.5 - Was the main threat going forward in the first half with some good balls in. Left wanting a little defensively though but made some good recovery tackles.

Elneny 7 - Fairly solid for a change, some good forward play as well.

Wilshire 7 - Also solid despite clearly not being fully fit.

Walcott 6 - Good finish for the goal but otherwise lived up to the gump nickname.

Sanchez 7 - Great touches and movement, but you'd expect no less against Doncaster. Lost the ball few times mind.

Giroud 5 - unlucky with the overhead kick against the bar, but did little else. Hardly putting I a case to start.

Albert Einstein once said: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Hip injury for Chambers apparently.
