Gordon Strachan after Scotland missed out on WC playoffs:

"We had to pick a team to combat the height and strength at set-plays. Genetically we have to work at things, maybe we get big women and men together and see what we can do.

It seems Scotland might go down the road of those sci-fi movies - genetic matching and engineering. But honestly, are Scottish people that small? Or maybe bigger Scots from a young age are not interested in playing.

There was a time that Scots had the highest average height in UK

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

The Spanish tend to be borderline midgets and they had no problem dominating world football for a number of years.

I always said Peter Crouch was better than Messi.

Albert Einstein once said: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
