It will be criminal not to rotate the squad after such a high-intensity battle on Sunday.

And both Xhaka and Torreira needed to recover from their intensive physical battle against Liverpool.
Will Emery takes a gamble to start youth and trust AMN to perform?

Time for Dortmund Connection in Aubameyang-Mkhitaryan-Sokratis to earn their salary in this match? It is an European tie which this Trio should be able to handle instead of the hustle-bustle physical English Football.

Lewandonski was the striker and Auba at right wing then with Mkhi as No. 10. Time to try it out against Sporting Lisbon with Welbeck as the battling ram of a CF?

.................................………. Cech

... Lichsteiner ... Pleguezuelo ... Sokratis ... Kolasinac

................Maitland-Niles ......……. Guendouzi

... Smith-Rowe ..............Mkhitaryan ............ Iwobi

........................... …………. Welbeck

It is best to reserve Auba as a supersub to tear apart a tiring Sporting Lisbon Defence if we need to win the game.

E.g. replace a tiring or underwhelming Mkhi if he still does not his game with Auba and move Iwobi as no. 10.
Time for Mkhi to prove he still has it as a Starter.

Elneny will play if he's not injured.

Not sure he'll start AMN in centre mid if he hasn't even subbed him on to that position... but that line-up makes sense.

emery always springs a surprise or two.

Interesting to hear that Emery intends to win this game and will field a strong side.
At the same time, he is tinkering to test out all the combination.

He needed to rest Xhaka-Torreira and the most likely replacement is Ramsey, not Maitland-Niles. AMN is 2nd fiddle to Torreira.

Sokratis needed a run of game and will play if fit.Pleguezuelo played the Under-21 Checktrade Cup and will not be involved. Meaning, Holding is given a chnace to partner Sokratis to test their partnership.

More and more, looks like Mkhitaryan is the 2nd fiddle to Ozil now.

This is a pretty strong team with hungry players determine to fight for a starting slot in the 1st team.

That team looks likely to be the one.

Good call, Merl.
Jenko is the only miss.

Which of our CBs are fully capable of playing both right and left sides?
Which are limited to one side or the other?
