Amongst all the gloom & doom another nugget from Q&A With Mickey and Mark:
MP stated that things were going well in China and he hoped to make a statement in the Autumn if things went to plan, regarding a major investment in the club.
Well the plan on the pitch isn't working, but hopefully if the money is forthcoming it will help all round.
That would raise another question as to whether MM would be trusted with some funds, or indeed could entice a new manager and provide a budget to bring in some new blood.
I believe there is talent within the squad, but the Manager is employing the wrong tactics and certainly not getting the best out of the players.
Is there a bad atmosphere in the camp, do the players not want to play for MM who knows?
I'm sure Mark Palios, whom I have the upmost faith in is speaking to all the staff in a bid to sort things out.
MM loves the club and will take responsibility, but has he become too stubborn in setting his stall out, sitting too deep with no width and not enough players in the final third influencing our attacks. We seem to be set up too defensively, with a lack of pace and urgency, plus making sure we don't over comit players going forward.
Oh for the return of The Prodigal Son (Tollitt) who I have spoken to and he can't wait to get back.

Is he negative because that's all the players can do though. We're all assuming Micky has decided who will be in the squad, he may have wanted others or wanted to release some who are still here and has been constrained with budget. He offered both Ihekiew and Stockton contracts, they declined them, I'm pretty sure if the personal deals matched what they got elsewhere they would have stayed.
Let's be honest bar Tollit who is capable of running at someone and who has genuine quality when it comes to distribution? The only one I can think of is Wallace in terms of distribution and he's out, which maybe why the manager took a gamable on him as he's in budget range. Can't think of someone who can run at pace and cause problems.
Square pegs round holes.

We also lost Vaughan plus some of the youngsters who seemed to be doing well. Agreed, Tollit and Wallace are our two most imaginative players. But it was known all summer that both of them plus Kirby were out (and Wallace may be out for a long time). We had to get reasonable replacements or come up with a different way of playing. We have done neither. We proved yesterday for 75 mins. that we can't break down 10 men so, if Tollit comes back in form, teams will put 2 men on him. And who's on the other wing? When we had Morrissey and Nevin, there was a real threat on both wings. We need someone to balance Tollit. If we can't get anyone new in (including a new manager) I would suggest telling Norwood he has to play on the wing and putting Alabi and Mangan through the middle with balls played at pace on the ground. For whatever reason, Cook seems out of sorts, Norwood isn't really a striker - if he objects, he should be shown video loops of all the chances and all the one-on-ones he's missed as a striker. Waring is still something of a mystery so I can't comment. Someone - Hughes or Norburn - needs to be largely relieved of defensive responsibilities and told to play forward balls at pace.

I don't blame Stockton for leaving ,him and Kirby were treated poorly in my oplnion neither given a chance and Stockton showed he had the talent last season but the damage had been done ,he wanted out can't blame him ,but he is not getting a game at Hearts either, new manager doesn't fancy him it appears :

Please desist with the calls for two wingers guys, particularly when in conjunction with when we had Moggsy and Nevin. We haven't got them and they arent out there either - there aren't two wingers like that on any team in this division and almost certainly the two divisions above either. If they were available they would be off to a higher level straight away or would want wages well beyond our means. Tollitt's great but it remains to be seen if he can recover and the sort of wingers you can get are one game in ten merchants like Mekki. Moggsy and Nevin were a one-off flash in the pan, you can't recreate that magic.

Well see whether getting rid of Mekki was the right decision on Saturday when he plays against us?

We could try the Bury approach; they have loans totalling £750000 logged on a peer to peer website and are paying 12% interest on it. Something tells me that this is a business model that may run into difficulty......

It's possible we may need investment just to stay afloat. The first thing you think when you hear the word investment is a bigger playing budget but that may not always be the case.
We survived for years with Peter Johnson paying the bills and covering the shortfall and the board did say a few years back without that safety net we would be in trouble as the club could simply not cover it all off their own generated income.
The owners have looked to address this with the continuous effort to create extra revenue streams and only time will tell if enough can be generated to firstly keep us going and secondly give us enough of a staff budget to keep us competitive.

Perhaps you can recreate Moggsy and Nevin firstly if you can find, secondly have to pay them lot's of £££££ even more than the stiff's we have a this moment in time. The third is the problem of signing them even if we could match the the best offer two such players could get would they want to sign for a club that's no sadly no better than the other Pub members in this God forsaken pub League.
Unfortunately we have a hard time to come this season and the main reason the team stinks ,no passion no effort no leadership no goals and certainly no speed.
All we get is McNulty slowly moving the ball forward we're he gives it back to the opposition or passes sideways by which time the opposition have regrouped just waiting for the ball to be given to them to set up yet another attack.

Morrissey cost £8000, what a buy that was. A proper out and out winger. Not always the superstar we now remember and got dropped plenty of times by king for similar reasons Mellon dropped Cook, got plenty of stick of the fans at times aswell. On his day though what a player and my personal favourite all time Rovers player.

Well efc0trfc3 I guess we're all getting a bit desperate, especially MM, but Ben may just provide that spark to inspire give confidence to his team mates.I agree with other comments we shouldn't expect miracles.
Maybe I put too much on my thread, but interesting to see comments mainly overlook headline !!!

Pub members in this God forsaken pub League.
I have to politely disagree with this sentiment. NL is far superior to any pub league and speaking about any football league in this manner to me is a bit disrespectful.
Sorry just how I feel, though I don't hold take offense at you personally.
