Midfield trio

DMH has gone back and many are sad at that situation. Personally I feel the two Ollies and Connor have changed our season. I have said all along the way out of this division is to sign League One standard players and these guys are.
Early on there were many calls for The Mellon Head to roll but personally I felt what was missing and said it many times was composure and a midfield. These 3 have really brought that to the table, I was really impressed with Norburn against us at our place last season and from day 1 here, I couldn’t understand the comments being generated about him.
Banks has come in and he’s exactly what we needed, athletic, composed on the ball and real quality in his passes. What Maynard was probably meant to be.
Jennings has really stepped up to the plate, when he first arrived he clearly had trickery and pace but to often he ran down blind alleys and his final ball left a lot to be desired, quite the opposite now, much of that may be down to him being played in the proper position. He Banks and Norbs are the keys to unlocking those busses that are so regularly parked across PP.
All 3 seem happy to have a dig from 20-25 yards which is another must in the ingredient of goals.
With Kirby back on the scene I really think it can only get better he as a player is far to good for this level and really hope he comes back strong from the layoff.
Norwood and Cookie have befitted from having a trio able to pass and must be confident that if they make a run they will be found or have some scraps to feed on in front of goal.
We have now a side consisting of 7 players capable of league 1 football and a few of those good enough for the Championship in time, we just need to hold onto them all if we don’t go up.

Spot on, though I don't agree we have players capable of League 1 (ask Oldham fans what they think about Banks!). But it's looking good and hopefully we can add Tollitt to that list soon, too.

Spoken to a few mate, he is not well liked as you know, however not necessarily a slight on his ability sometimes footballers just don’t fit the mould at a club, we’ve had a few at PP who have failed miserably in league 1 and gone onto ply their trade successfully in the Championship. Fergie was made to look a bozo by a few players at UTD some of whom went onto World Cup final medals.

Fair point Higgo. And I remember years ago with us that some had doubts that players like Higgy, Yozzer and Moggsy would be good enough after we got promoted from the old Div 4 but of course they blossomed as we went higher and higher. Let's hope the current squad can be tested in the same way!
