Apparently Aldo and McAteer have a group of wealthy business men looking at attempting a takeover, If true I wonder if this is behind everything and unsettling everyone.

There will never be a time when Liverpool fans don't talk about former Liverpool players being about to buy Tranmere. I've heard vast amounts of garbage over the years about what is happening at our club from people who know nothing about Tranmere but believe that being a Liverpool fan makes them superior.
Liverpool have lots of fans and even through a small proportion of them make up rubbish, that's a lot of people making up rubbish in the hope they are right and getting bragging rights. We are often going to come up as a topic they can pretend they know something about.
This might be true for all I know, but my Liverpool-supporting friends have known for 15 years which of their ex-players are about to buy the club.

Rumour or not, the bottom line is we need investment/money to help take us forward. As we're coming to realise, it's very difficult to get out of this league and just relying on us being "a big club that shouldn't be in this league" isn't going to win us promotion.
Realistically, now that we're getting the reality check that we rode our luck last season and this squad isn't good enough to win the league, the objective now is to stay in the league and at best attempt to try and get in the play offs.
New owners/investment for next season will hopefully enable us to build a squad capable of winning this league. But agree it just sounds like the usual rumour mill

Quote:If "it may be true for all I know" why the need for such a long rant? Yes it may be rubbish/ hearsay etc. but let's equally not diss it completely, as after all Salford City are looking better positioned going forward than we are at least in the short term and MP has stated publicly and in the filed accounts he is seeking investment in the club.Claytonne&Clark

Air Force one has been seen circling the Wirral, possibly looking for a landing zone at Prenton Park, soccer and golf for The President.

Neil Mellor? The last time I saw him was when we lost 3-2 at Accrington after being 2-1 up. We were on the half way line and he was behind us doing summaries and reports for one of the local radio stations.

Mini, I think we are promising acquisition at the right price and in the right place, we have potential to reach the Championship and stay their with money put in, we've a big ground and space to expand it on up to maybe 20-25k with a full rebuild. We are based on a good footballing corner of the World, Everton, Lpool, Manchester region sides, Pie in the sky at present but we can dream.

But the dream of really large crowds never came true even when we were consistently playing very attractive football and on the verge of getting into the top league.

Dont agree, the world of foreign investment is a very modern trait. A Chinese investor could well invest now, but in 1996 modern China was mearly a fishermans importers dream.

Investment could very much happen, not big crowds though.

One arguable difference with this one, is that unlike Fowler and McManaman, Aldo and McAteer actually played for Tranmere, so perhaps, if this has any substance at all, they would wish to buy it with a slightly different outlook about it, because they had some level of emotional investiture in the club before.
Bearing in mind that it could be argued that sentiment rarely should get houseroom in business, so they would have to largely try not to let past connections, influence judgement too much.
One benefit of Palios from the word go, was his past connections and that sentiment alone, made him look like someone who was never going to make change by cleaving away aspects of the club until it was more of a shell.
Arguably people like the shady Club 9 or the Portuguese onlookers that never bought Swindon nearly 10 years ago, would have been such people who would have looked to profit on some of Tranmere's value, rather than building on it.
Tranmere might never have been the same, paying some local authority to use their stadium from funds obtained from a fat Portuguese bank balance, just so £3,000 a week players could succeed or fail in it's name.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
