AS Airdrie 1-1 Blochairn Star

An even start to this game saw neither side dominate or have many clear cut oppertunities, A similar pattern to the recent cup tie between the sides however on this occasion it was Airdrie who grabed the lead. Blochairn were awarded a cornerwhen Rowan, covering a shot going wide, was deemed to have taken a touch. from the corner the keeper gathered and instantly thre the ball out to lindsay who charged through the midfield, Gray and Pardoe both made great runs to allow Lindsay to lift the ball over the defence for the oncoming Shaw down the right, Shaw controlled well held off the final challenge and struck a sweet shot in off the far post, a cracking counter attacking goal. Airdrie held the lead till half time.

Second half saw a bit more action as Blochairn chased the game and left spaces for Airdrie to expose, end to end stuff as Rowan had to produce a few good stops, Edgar and Cooper won every header got tackles in and pushed the team on from the back. Shaw's game was ended early after he couldn't shake off a crude waist high tackle, Brady replaced him on the right, Gray had been playing well just lacking a final pass on occasion but he found space in the box to get on the end of an excellent cross but headed inches over. Blochairn almost got an equaliser as a tight offside call was played on and they struck the bar with the shot. With time ticking away it appeared Airdrie were heading for a well earned 3 points. 2 minutes from the end of the 90 Airdrie conceeded a soft penalty, scott Graham judged to have fouled in the box, the full back stood his ground and his oppenent ran into him, more a case of obstuction if anything. However the award was given and Campbell put the kick just beyond Rowan's fingertips to level the game.

Another late goal denies Airdrie full points and it felt like a loss at the end. Blochairn are still in the title hunt so we must learn for next season and make sure we are up there too an excellent performance on reflection with players working hard all over the pitch. Two games left now as we look for a strong finish to the season Shawbridge at home is next up on Saturday.
