The biggest cull of players out of Arsenal that I can ever recall is well under way, Ivan Gazidis seems to be winning his battle with Wenger for a little more prudence where the over all squad numbrers is concerned. Arsenal have already released six young players - Gavin Hoyte, Rhys Murphy, George Brislen-Hall, Sean McDermott, James Campbell and Jeffrey Monakana. Two more have been sold - Ben Glasgow and Oguzhan Ozyakup; also Pedro Botelho looks likely to join Leventa full time too. The club are said to be willing to sell Craig Eastmond and Sanchez Watt for nominal fees and James Shea may go too. Alban Bunjaku is one of several youth players offered pro deals but as of yet he and others have not accepted those offers and may leave too.
Decisions are likely to be made about Henri Lansbury and Kyle Bartley this summer - keep or sell and this may depend on who else leaves or are brought in. From the first team squad Manuel Almunia has been released and Yossi Benayoun's loan deal has expired.
Sell Sell and Sale
The club are looking to sell Andre Arshavin, Nicklas Bendtner, Carlos Vela, Denilson, Sebastion Squillaci and possibly Marouane Chamakh and Ju Young Park. - Bids have been recieved for most of those players and its been made clear to them and their agents that the club want them to sort out deals to leave - Squillaci is in talks with Bastia and its believed that he has agreed to accept a free transfer offer from Arsenal to facilatate any transfer. Zenit look likely to sign Arshavin. Sao Paulo have held talks over signing Denilson, many clubs are in for Bendtner and Vela and a few clubs in France have expressed interest in Park and Chamakh.
Both Lukas Fabianski and Vito Mannone want to leave, and at least one of them seem certain to be sold.
A few rumours that Johan Djourou may also leave, and of course Abu Diaby may finally see his injury plagued stay at Arsenal finally end, several clubs in France and Turkey are said to be interested.
Of course we all wait to see if RVP and Theo Walcott will still be here next season.
Yes its not all one way traffic, another batch of academy players have been brought in, and as already stated several of Academy players have been offered pro deals to follow team mates that have already signed deals.
The club are seeking work permits for Joel Campbell and Wellington Silva and possibly Samuel Galindo. Ryo might be a full member of first team squad this coming season. Lukas Podolski has of course been signed, and it seems we are in pole position for both Oliver Giroud and Yann M'Vila.
We are also said to be after an experienced keeper as back up to Szczesny, with Craig Gordon of Sunderland a possible Bosman signing, or God forbid Robert Green. Young England keeper Jack Butland has been mentioned too, but with Martinez so highly rated by AFC coaches it is unlikey we would sign another young inexperienced keeper.
When all is said and done in regards the transfer activity of AFC this summer we are likely to see the number of pro players reduced from over 70 last season to under 60, and with several of those likely to go being very higly paid it would surely help to make more wages available for the likes of Theo and RVP and incoming players too.

well if RVP and Theo stay then other than Benny, none of the rest of those that leave would have played more than a few minutes (plus chamakh started one fapl game)in the FAPL for us last season, so not the usual case of dismantling the team when clearouts are done

I think it prudent for every Gooner to expect Robin to leave.
The reasons for him to leave are obvious for every one of us. And to place much faith in, his love of our club over trebling his salary and advancing his chances of winning trophies, is, to say the least, clutching at straws.
Deep down I really want him to re-sign, but try and put yourself in his position.

eduardo, why buy a player who didn't contribute jack because some players didn't get work permit.. its stupidity..thats the problem with wenger... he buys a useless player that he very well knows can never replace the players he is looking up to at the detriment of the entire team.. he refused to buy cos he was waiting chamakh..in the end he is to be sold after failing to replicate the form that got everyone excited..
its selfish & stupid to keep doing that..if he signed a quality player what will happen to the players he wanted.. that is the case always.

Campbell signed, knowing he wouldn`t get 1st team action, without a work permit.

I will be surprised if RVP still trusts wenger to build a roster to a competitive level and that RVP trusts wenger to utilize those players in a tactically sensible manner.

It's still a bit of bull, as probably you can't really sale many of those names there with any sort of price tag. Just like Squillaci, Denilson, Diaby, Fabianski to name a few need to talk about free transfer with take back clause in case of failure.
So if anything this article signifies is the massive failure of youth policy and Stan Kroenke isn't interested to spend his hard earned money on such useless experiment anymore so planning to cut loss and back out. That's the sugar coated version of Ivan Gazidis's victory over Wenger.

Where in that write-up suggest that ivan and Wenger are doing battle? Most of those players are either reserve players who are let go basically because they're getting above 21yrs and aint good enough for the first team yet, or players already on their way out even before this transfer window. I love how eduardo manages to deceive the people on here by creating the impression that wenger and the board are at some loggerhead.

If I'm honest I can't see us selling all of those players. Maybe the odd one will go. But It's just a viewpoint hardly fact.

Vanpersei, walcott, aoc, ramsey, song, wilshere, gibbs, djorou, jekinson, szczesny, martinez, coquelin - 12 solid players who are all integral members of the first team. How is that for a failed youth project which started just about 6yrs ago?

Very good article, concise, knowledgable and straight to the point of what is currently going on at the club. I am supportive of alot of the fringe players leaving as they are either not good enough or will not be good enough in the future... to play at the highest level anyway. Arsenal should be operating on a smaller squad with more quality as this will improve team spirit if not anything else. With the changes in squad sizes and restrictions coming into the game in England it is hardly surprising the club has to move this way and I would imagine that this is something Mr. Wenger also appreciates.

The irony is he is trying to create a deliberately false impression that the Arsenal Board has simply been helpless as Arseen wenger has ignored their wishes the past several years to invest more in the teamm and to pretend the Arsenal Board making 400 million pounds because of the financial strategies that increased their wealth but weakened our team has been nothing more than an accident or a coincidence.

RvP bought in on our youth policy for 2.5 m, now worth over 10X that.
During Wengers reign, we have bought serveral players, Anelka, Viera, Overmars, Henry, RvP, Fabz, Nasri and Adebayor and turned huge profits out of their sales.
Financially we are a very successful `selling club`. One of the very best in the world. But that is not where, we fans, want it to be.

Financially it`s been hugely successful.

By failed youth system people mean the failed academy which almost produced nothing except Wilshere, who still isn't a finished product.
If you buy someone 21 years old and the player stays in your club for 8 years, you call that product of youth policy?
Messi is product of youth policy, so are Iniesta, Xavi et al product of Barcelona youth policy.
Thiago Alcantara is the product of Flamengo academy, Neymar is of Santos. RVP is the product of Feyenoord academy.

What makes a successful youth policy is bringing in youngsters from the youth levels at YOUR CLUB and actually going on to win trophies.
My word reading the nonsense above about how our youth policy has been succesful because of the profits we've been making shows you how the club have managed to convince fans that being at the top of profits and other financial leagues is infact a better achievement than winning any trophy.
