I can't be Arsenaled Enjoy The Summer Please Write

Twitter and websites are full of stories about how hard it is to go through summer without football. Be careful what you wish for, one day a clown like Blatter will abolish winter football, and Christmas without football that really is boring. The only problem I have about the lack of summer football is that I have to provide an article every two weeks to keep this site going, or the landlord shuts me down, and on a sunny day like this I am not sure I would care if they did.

So what can I write about? Unlike some websites you will not see transfer speculation as a main feature, yes the punters write thread after thread here about it, but I really don’t care. It will happen, or not, without any comment from me.

It never fails to amaze me the number of hits blogs get with phoney transfer stories about £35 million targets, how gullible can you get? Not that I care that much about price tags, a pig still looks like a pig even with the most expensive lipstick on.

I can proudly claim I haven’t watched one minute of the Confederations Cup, or the Africa Cup, nor do I know anyone who has actually watched it. its no subsitute for real football, nor is transfer gossip.

I confess I watched the Wimbledon final, why you may scream at me in horror, because it’s actually good to watch players with true skill and the  determination to win. Which doesn’t really remind me of the Arsenal over the last 8 years, top four yes, but not top two heading for the no 1 spot? It will take more than a few signings to turn this under skilled lot into real winners.

Perhaps it’s unfair to compare football with tennis, but one lesson might be that Murray never won the big one until he changed coaches. Who can remember the name of his previous one, don’t go and google it there aren’t any prizes. Murray was a big final bottler until he changed coaches, no lessons to be drawn from that then. So just to remind you what a real trophy looks like I put a photo of Murray at the top. I can't remember him saying that coming second at Wimbledon was just like a trophy, but I might have missed it.

I can hear the screams of horror, well if you don’t like it then write, not some snidey little post calling me a moaner, but a post that proves there is something interesting to say about Arsenal in July, because it escapes me at present, and don't bother with a load of transfer speculation.

Here is another shock, I am actually enjoying the close season, it’s so much nicer not having to wake up mentally hung over by yet another defeat by a team several divisions below, or yet another failure to beat a top six club.

I’ve spent the time watching real entertainment and feeling uplifted as I have applauded the players or performers off the stage. There is more atmosphere and joy in the average theatre, or the South Bank than watching Arsenal struggling against Norwich or Southampton.

I will finish with a couple of Alexi Sayle jokes from his recent gig at the South Bank, a man who has got the old fire back in his belly.

A blind Elephant and Hippo meet in a pub. They discuss that they don’t know what they are, so the Hippo feels the Elephant’s trunk and big ears, big feet and tiny tail and tells him he is an Elephant.

The Elephant feels the Hippo, large drooping belly, and then the great big gaping mouth, ah you’re a scouser he declares.

Sayle confessed to trying to assassinate Thatcher by sending her a plastic carrier bag with the suffocation warning rubbed out, but she was too clever for him and wrote it back on again.

Please write

Far more interesting than transfer speculation, but if you have anything interesting to say about Arsenal then please write it up and send it to Arsenaltimes@blueyonder.co.uk

Ah yes.
What a fabulous lesson contained in that picture.

Hope springs eternal in the summer breeze ... someday, Arsenal too will change managers and we will win trophies - the sooner, the better.

The only lesson I learned from murray's win was.....

If you want something done, bring in a scot!

Unfortunately, Utd have learned it, and acted on it. Let's just hope it takes Moyes as long as it took Murray to prove it!!

Actually, it does raise an interesting point.....
When was the last time an English manager lifted the top prize in English football?
I can think of 2 scots that have won the epl in fergie and dalglish. Who was the last Englishman though?! Was it even during the prem years?!

Howard Wilkinson won the title with leeds - 92

*Signing Ozil is a signing Bergkamp type moment for Arsenal. It changes things utterly.*

Blimey. So no Englishman has won the epl?!
(Sm6)
Well that re-enforces my earlier point then!!

I have said on this forum countless times that some posters need to relax and enjoy the off season.

Things like social media has made the off season unbearable.

Similar to Padre I am enjoying not worrying about this team, quite frankly I am unemployed and have other things to put first.

True enough.
Still doesn't change the fact that no English manager has won the premier league though.

Again the question is the manager the issue or the spending policy the issue and frankly we have very strong comparative objective analysis to suggests to the point of incontravertably proving the spending policies have been the problem.

To simply persist with this if we change managers it'll all come good thinking is dangerous as it only allows the people setting the financial policies to keep them in place that much longer setting us back that much further for even longer.

If you can show me solid evidence that the Club have wanted more money invested in the team and only the manager has prevented this happening and I will back you 100%.

Thing is if that evidence actually existed it would be that Arsene Wenger had already been sacked by the Club because of that by now.

Well, congrats on graduating at least. I'm guessing you might have some idea what field you want to get into, which is a good thing. I'm still searching for a job I can settle with for life. Sooo sick of office jobs.

I'm relieved to here you're simply unemployed, GRU. By the way Radio and Philly were reacting I thought you had just been diagnosed with AIDS.
