Bristol Rovers are close to bringing midfielder Romaine Sawyers to the Memorial Stadium, as the League One club looks to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season. The 31-year-old Englishman is currently a free agent after departing from AFC Wimbledon after a short spell with the League Two club.
Sawyers, a creative midfielder known for his technical ability, vision, and passing range, has enjoyed a fruitful career across several top-flight clubs. Having previously played for West Bromwich Albion and Brentford, he made a name for himself as a composed, deep-lying playmaker with an eye for both defensive and attacking duties. His calmness on the ball, combined with an ability to dictate the tempo of the game, could provide a crucial asset to Bristol Rovers' midfield.
Rovers' First Team Coach Inigo Calderon, is said to be keen on adding more depth and creativity to his side, and Sawyers' experience in higher leagues could help Rovers' young squad. Sawyer's can break up opposition attacks while contributing creatively in transition and could be a great asset for Rovers for the second half of the season.
With Conteh out injured for around a month and Garret returning to Blackburn Rovers, Rovers are a little light in midfield.
