Burnley 1 Huddersfield Town 1

The Clarets extended their unbeaten record to three games but couldn’t take a winning run into the international break as Huddersfield hit back to get off the bottom of the league.

Sam Vokes’ second goal in as many games promised to make it three wins in a row but the Terriers deserved their point through Christopher Schindler’s second-half equaliser as the Roses rivals again remained deadlocked.

The result left Huddersfield without a win this season but seemingly not without hope, while the below-par Clarets – unrecognisable from the side that overwhelmed Bournemouth in their previous home game – will bank the point and look to come back fit and firing after the break with a tough run of fixtures to come.

Both games between the two sides last season had finished goalless but that never looked likely to be the case this time around thanks to a flurry of early chances.

That said, Huddersfield hadn’t previously managed a goal from open play this season – all three coming from set-pieces – and the visitors’ poor finishing was instrumental in allowing the Clarets a half-time lead.

Burnley’s two opportunities before the break fell to Vokes and the in-form striker again delivered the goods.

Were you at the game Alf?
Just watched the highlights, didn’t look too bad, thought Tarks was lucky, looked like a stamp on the diver. As SD said 7 points out of 9, like the other posts asks, do you want silky entertaining football and relegated or grind out results and EPL football?

Bit of a rough patch. Maybe a hangover from last season? Need to get behind Sean and the lads - this is going to one long, hard slog this season if we are to stay up.

Tarkowski tried to avoid standing on him, Fortunately he couldn't. Talk about cheats never prosper and he got hooked pretty quickly!

Saw most of it on a dodgy stream JJ , we were awful and Huddersfield should have won..7 points from nine though playing Schite ain't too bad I suppose.. I think we will be back in the bottom three after the next four games though..
