Scolari Requests Immediate Essien Replacement

Luiz Felipe Scolari has requested a replacement for crocked Michael Essien in the form of a player currently out of contract. Essien is out for six months with an anterior cruciate ligament knee injury and is deemed enough of a hole by Scolari to warrant a new signing – Kenyon will have to pull out all the stops to ensure our new Brazilian manager is satisfied after the Robinho debacle.
'I have some idea about how to fill Michael's position and I told Peter Kenyon about them. He will try to do something today, tomorrow or next week.'
So there is more than one alternative going by Scolari´s comments although surely top of the list could be Stephen Appiah who is Essien´s Ghanaian International team-mate.
Appiah has very similar characteristics to Essien and is currently captain of Ghana and is a free agent after being released by Turkish side Fenerbahce.
By coincidence, Appiah also suffered a similar injury to the one that has put Essien out at the moment and has only just recently begun playing again.
The fact that he hasn’t already been snapped up is slightly surprising – maybe there is more to the injury he suffered than we know about? If the replacement is Appiah no doubt the Cobham medical staff will give him a thorough MOT to make sure.
