Under BIG Phil, we fans have been taken on a very very bumpy ride. Stylish, attacking, free-flowing football at the start of the season changing to a style of football that reminds me of a pub team on Sunday morning. Yet somehow, we are still 2nd in the Premiership. We have lost 14 points at home and although BIG Phil helped to create the away record, we have now drawn our last two.
Still we have only conceded three goals away from home and Chelsea are now unbeaten on the road for 12 months having won 52 points from 20 matches. Yesterday at the Cottage, BIG Phil decided to recall Malouda for Anelka and Deco for Ballack, why? Who knows?!?! Only BIG Phil can answer that question. Deco has been out of sorts for a long time now, his only telling contribution in recent games was his spectacular goal at Bolton. Malouda or Mr Wasteful, as I like to call him, was as useful as pouring hot water into a chocolate tea-pot and only lasted twenty odd minutes before coming off with a hamstring injury. Before half-time, the same problem afflicted Alex who was replaced by the returning Carvalho. Chelsea got off to a dodgy start, conceding a 10th minute goal to the Wild, Wild West's Clint Dempsey who scored from six yards after Mikel was found wanting and dithering in the area, Chelsea then woke up and dominated proceedings with a constant stream of attacks allowing Fulham the occasional counter-attack. Dids, our big Dids was guilty of missing chance after chance as Deco was guilty on so many occasions of going missing, with Malouda only on the pitch (until his injury) Chelsea were playing with nine men. Thanks to Fulham and their generosity, Super Frank equalised after Schwarzer and Hughes got tangled up with each other from a Didier flick and Frank raced in to slot the ball into an empty net. On 72 minutes, Deco's most telling contribution to the game came by winning a free-kick thirty yards out. Up stepped Super Frank and he lashed the free-kick low to the left of the diving Schwarzer. Game over. Three points to Chelsea or so you thought!! The bumpy ride returned in the last minute - its been a long time since Chelsea conceded a telling last minute goal and this one told!!! - from a Fulham corner Wild, Wild West Clint was allowed a free-header to equalise at Cechie boy's near post. With the Scousers winning by a mile at The Toon earlier in the afternoon, Chelsea are now three points behind and with Man Utd at Old Trafford coming up in less than two weeks, either some serious money needs to be spent or some a***s need to be seriously kicked!!! If you think this is a 'bad' season, then you should have been there when we were S**T!!! 
Unlucky or incompetent? Probably the latter when you consider how we defended for their goals.
Deco started brightly then just got poor again - bit better in the 2nd half but waned yet again. I´d rather see Ballck start in his place for a run of games from now on.
I thought Drogba made a real nuisance of himself - good to see him so enthusiastic although you´re right about his finishing. Mind you, that´s the first 90 mins he´s completed this season - he´ll soon get tuned up.
I agree about the way our smooth, attractive football has deteriorated - if anything it shoudl be the other way round - the squad taking its time to take on Scolari´s new style and eventually getting it right - but being Chelsea we do it the other way round!
Still a long season ahead. So so disappointed by the result. I´m trying to be philosophical about it; we should ONLY improve from now on.
