Tribunal to set Chelsea fee for City’s Sturridge

Chelsea look set to finalise the move for 19-year-old Daniel Sturridge from Manchester City after a tribunal sets a fee for the forward. The two clubs could not agree a transfer and development fee for Sturridge – City are asking for £10million whilst Chelsea are miles away from this figure with a £3million offer.
Despite the fact that Sturridge´s contract is about to finish he is not available on a free-transfer because Bosman rules do not cover players under 24 years of age.
Sturridge had turned down a new contract offer at City reportedly because he was not happy over the salary package – the youngster wanted somewhere between £55,000 and £65,000-per-week – a demand which was refused by City suits.
Sturridge definitely looks like a player worth having – although I wonder how much first team football he will get at Chelsea? And what are the implications of Sturridge´s transfer to Chelsea for Franco Di Santo?
The Argentinean youngster has been patient, displayed a great attitude and looked confident during the few minutes he has been given of first team football.
With the necessity of also buying a top-class striker due to Drogba´s absence during the ANC and other Ivory Coast matches (+ CL banned matches) we could be looking at a crowded section of forwards in the dressing room; Drogba, Anelka, + 1, Di Santo and Sturridge.
Ancelotti has played 4-3-3 and the 4-3-2-1 Christmas tree in the past at Milan – so what will he do at Chelsea?

Gentlemen, the City revolution is picking up momentum. The rags in their Theatre of Debt are shaking. We just need Tevez to sign on the dotted line, another piece in the jigsaw. I can almost see the banner, 'Welcome to Manchester (NOT Stretford) Carlos.' I'm getting too excited I think I need to lie down. Before I go though, Tara Danny, mind the door doesn't hit your arris on the way out!

IF he does turn out to be top class forward within a few seasons and he only cost us say, 6.5m then high wages can be justified.
Always had a soft-spot for City (I remember being at Maine Road when there was 40,000 for a top of the table clash in the 2nd Division - we won 2-3. I have also seen Rodney Marsh play for you - great player - ahead of his time) and I hope you do break into the top 4 and upset the old guard of clubs who, had formed their own clique with the break-up of the old league.
