January 12 2010
The Academy play their first fixture since December when they won in the FA Youth Cup 3rd Round at The Valley, beating Charlton 2-1. Tonight the Academy travel to the City Ground to play the youngsters of Nottm Forest and the winners will be rewarded with a home tie against Portsmouth who beat Tottingham 1-0 last night.
THERE WILL BE LIVE COVERAGE ON THE BOARD FROM 7PM.
The game is also being shown LIVE on Chelsea TV.
Definitely out is Rohan Ince and definitely in is Dutch U-21 International Jeffrey Bruma who is only 17 and has lots of reserve experience and Bruma is looking forward to the game.
He says, "I still get excited about the Youth Cup, even though I have been with the first team. It's a different feeling, it has a big history and everyone wants to perform well and show what they are capable of, to the whole club. Everyone is glad that the game is still on.

"I had my first session with the youth team on Monday, we had a short session on the pitch and did a few set plays and a little match. The most important thing is to have everyone fit for the game.
"My last game was for the reserves against Celtic a couple of weeks ago before Christmas, and I want to play again. At the reserve level you don't play too many games so it's good to have this game, and it's an important one as well."

Sala, Tore and Mitrovic of course all looked good (the latter with his poster-boy looks seems destined for greatness!).
Sala is maturing very well - very intelligent, accuarte use of the ball and Tore lookis like he could do a few rounds with Roy Keane no problem.
"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they don’t like it." P Kenyon.
He caused Forest all sorts of problems nmot just with his pace, but his crosses from open play and deadball situations.
'Bout time we have someone at the club who can ACTUALLY cross a ball

Just seen his interview on CTV...
Almost a man despite being 17. Very strong as you say but also has guile and skill....and very modest - refreshing to see.

A few years back, 2010 is the year that Brendon Rogers said when the younger ranks would break through into the first team... Be interesting to see who cements a place there...we´ve got Kakuta, Borini, Bruma starting to break through....Id expect at least one of them to have a decent run out this season...maybe 2.
