I don't care what anybody thinks of John Terry all I know is that if anybody said to me 'I wouldn't want John Terry in my team,' I would call them a 'liar' (of course the standard profanity prefixes liar) and tell them to go forth and multiply.
Last night at the Lane John Terry, 'One England Captain' was simply outstanding.
All the good that Chelsea produced was marshalled by him, captained by him, led by him and all this despite 24 hours before charges of racism were brought against him.
Chelsea eventually turned up after being rolled over at the start of the game. It was like watching the beginning of the Money Citeh game a few days ago, where Chelsea just couldn't get going.
Fortunately Chelsea lasted a few minutes longer before they conceded, when Adebayor tapped home from close range from a fiercely driven Bale cross.
Petr Cech for me was to slow to respond as he hit the ground in attempt to gather the ball after Adebayor had passed it under his body. Immediately I thought, here we go again.
Chelsea though to their credit hit back almost immediately. Mata hit a beauty which Friedel could only parry and the ball fell into the path of the oncoming Sturridge and unbelieveably Sturridge hit the ball over the bar.
What the ref didn't see and was confirmed by TV replays, the shot took a minute deflection off King on its way over the bar.
Chelsea were not to be denied. They took control and midway through the first-half Sturridge volleyed into an unguarded net after Tottingham stopped playing appealing for handball as Ashley Cole bought the ball under control prior to sending in the cross.
And another decision goes Chelsea's way!!
The game was full of drama and end to end goalmouth action, notably Ramires being involved by squirming two gilt edged chances in the second-half - one from his head and the other from a low shot - with chances like that, Chelsea fans would have wanted Super Frank on the end of them.
Tottingham at the end could have won it when JT, not to be denied his moment especially after shrugging off 90 minutes of abuse from the home fans - cleared an Adebayor effort off the line with his back.
Adebayor should never have been in that position in the first place.
There were THREE occasions after he was earlier booked, that he should have received another yellow, but it looked to me that ref Howard Webb lost his bottle.
After the horror start, the game could have gone badly wrong for Chelsea but the 'never say die' spirit which Chelsea showed, especially after losing Mikel and Ivanovic to first-half injuries and playing with a make-shift back-four - Ferreira at right-back and Bosingwa next to the 'One England Captain,' Chelsea have to be commended.
Let's hope the spirit continues, beginning on Monday afternoon (Boxing Day) against Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
