FA Cup 3rd Round: Portsmouth Preview

Double, Double, Double

I like Pompey make no bones about it. I have done since the days of 'Arry. I like what they have acheived especially in times of severe adversity, limited funds, changes of owners etc, etc. Their fans are a set and class above everybody else. No prawnies at Fratton Park I can tell you. 3,000 plus will be at The Bridge this afternoon, no doubt outsinging, outsupporting the home faithful..... Hangs head in shame!!

Mr John will be at The Bridge. Mr John is Portsmouth Football Club. Topless apart from his blue and white chequered waist-coat. A long blue and white wig and that stupid blue and white chequered top-hat similar to Dr Zeus, Cat in the Hat. (Sorry John.... Only kidding... ED.)

The last time the two teams met was of course that historic day at Wembley in May 2010, when the 'One England Captain' lifted the FA Cup to proclain Chelsea not only Cup Winners, but Double Winners too!!

FACup3rd1

Chelsea won 1-0, courtesy of a Didier Drogba goal. Two penalties (one from each side were missed) and Chelsea hit Pompey's woodwork no fewer than SIX times.

Only five players from that day are available to start today: Cech, Ash, Malouda, Super Frank and JT.

JT is a major doubt though and Drogba and Kalou have jetted away with the Ivory Coast to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins next week.

Should JT not be available, Sam Hutchinson or 17 year old Nathanial Chalobah could step into the breach and I hope, really hope that AvB gives Fernando Torres the games (in Drogab's absence) he needs to get back to his old scoring ways.

Playing Torres and Sturridge together, interchanging as centre-forwards, with Mata just in behind, would give the meanest defences a torres (torrid) time.... that I am sure!!

COME ON CHELSEA
