Not a lot has been celebrated that it was Chelsea FC’s 108th birthday but what a lovely birthday present the team gave the fans as they battled back from an early 2-0 deficit with wonderful goals from Hazard and Ramires while at the death could have won it had De Gea’s big toe not deflected Mata’s shot, after wonderful control and turn, for a corner.

Were Fatty’s substitutions inspired or just plain lucky?

The only inspiration for me was the substitutions came early rather than later (which has been the norm for fatty since he took over) and the introduction of Mikel and Hazard for Super Frank and Victor Moses on 52 minutes, cemented Chelsea’s domination which had SAF breathing a huge sigh of relief as he admitted ‘United were lucky not too lose.’

Chelsea got off to a horrible start and after eleven minutes were 2-0 down and I really don’t know what was going through ConfusedCech.com mind as he went walkabout when Hernandez looped an unmarked header over him into the far post and minutes later stayed on his line as Rooney’s curling free-kick sailed past him into the same corner.

At this point the sofa was moved away from the wall and the tin-hat was donned waiting for the avalanche of United goals.

Slowly but surely Chelsea got themselves back into the game and Confused.Cech was never seen again, such was Chelsea’s magnificent fightback, not just in the two goals, but possession, determination and true fighting spirit which has been less forthcoming in recent matches.

Once again the travelling faithful were 100% behind the team, support in abundance, through the tunnel of adversity at 2-0, then wild celebrations as Ramires left-foot shot found its way into Utd’s net for the equaliser, nine minutes after Hazard’s sublime curler.

With the replay at Stamford Bridge to be arranged, it is beginning to look like Chelsea will have to play four games in nine day,s a match that will decide who plays Man City at Wembley on semi-final weekend, 13/14 April 2013.

We’re not ‘tired.’ (cough, cough)
