For the umpteenth time the champions conceded the first goal in a match, but this time there was no happy ending. Also, for the umpteenth time Chelsea produced their party trick of losing to a struggling London team. Many Chelsea supporters would dearly love to see Crystal Palace and West Ham United both relegated, so you can imagine the feeling of dismay that our pampered prats seem intent on keeping such clubs in the Premier League by granting them morale-boosting wins.
What is most annoying of all is that while Liverfools have scored thirteen goals in the last two matches, impotent Chelsea by contrast are limping from one fixture to the next with a measly goals return. On a day when we miserably failed to score, Tottenham were putting five goals past Stoke City. Alvaro Morata is an expensive Tony Cascarino, excellent at heading the ball but less lethal when shooting at goal. Victor Moses hasn't scored a league goal since twelve months ago. The only player willing to assume Lampard's mantle of shooting from outside of the box is Pedro, but he doesn't even get a starting place any more.
After a decent run, the wheels are coming off again. I can cope with the reality of not winning the Premier League and Champions League, but surely we can play some sexy football and emulate our free-scoring rivals. Two successful domestic cup runs, laden with goals, would be an acceptable consolation, but it seems that we are unable to string two good seasons together.
I just hope that the squad get an early night on Monday because we were informed by their manager that they were "tired". Let's hope that the team and the supporters don't have to yawn our way through our visit to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.
