BLUES BOSS DAVID MOYES IS EXPECTING A TOUGH ENCOUNTER IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE GAME AGAINST STRUGGLERS HULL CITY AT GOODISON PARK TOMORROW AFTERNOON...
David Moyes is expecting a tough encounter when Hull City visit Goodison this weekend.
Sitting in a worrying 18th place in the Premier League table at present, Phil Brown's men are battling to avoid relegation.
And having escaped the drop by the skin of their teeth last term, Moyes knows Hull will be trying their hardest not to be in a similar position in 10 weeks time.
"It's been tough for them," said Moyes. "I'm sure if they can stay in the Premier League again they will say it's been a great season for them. They did it last year - it's never easy when you bring a team up, and they did it through the play-offs as well which makes it even more difficult.
"It will be a tough season for them but I don't think they would have expected it any other way."
Moyes also praised Brown, the Hull boss who was rumoured to be close to losing his job earlier this season.
Moyes said: "It was a great achievement to keep them up last year. Folk were critical because he got off to such a good start and faded away.
"I think if it had been the other way they would have been seen as heroes if they had kept them up. It's strange how football works. But I don't think they're daft to realise it's not going to be easy but they'll have a struggle to stay in the Premier League, and if they do it will be another great season for them."
Moyes also hopes Everton can maintain their strong home form for the rest of the campaign, and insisted he has no other targets than to make sure three points are taken this Sunday.
He continued: "It's always good to play at home. It would be good if we could play at home every week. We've got great support, and in the main we've done quite well.
"We were a bit slow at the start of the season but we seem to have found our feet now at home now and I hope we can keep it that way until the end of the season.
"To win the next game is always the next target. If we win the next game then I will start thinking about the one after that. But I want to try and win this one against Hull and if we do that, then we'll see where it takes us."
