EVERTON FAIL TO HOLD ONTO A 2 GOAL LEAD AS BIRMINGHAM CITY SHOWED A SPIRITED FIGHTBACK TO CLAIM A POINT IN SATURDAY'S GAME AT ST.ANDREWS....
Everton were left to rue the chance to improve there position in the race for European football next season as they throw away a great start to this game after taking a 2 goal lead in the first 22minutes.
A terrific finish by Anichebe and a simple headed goal by the 'Yak' after a lovely chip from Pienaar to set him up at the far post had us all dreaming of an away day mauling to the brummies, but after being in control and looking a class above Birmingham City, two really sloppy goals let them back in it and the game ended all square and it felt like a defeat in the end.
There was to be no fairytale ending to Landon Donovan's final curtain call on his loan period, but you couldnt blame Davey Moyes for choosing to play Victor Anichebe who was giving Liam Ridgewell a torrid afternoon with his strength and power, but there is always a worry with Victor and his fitness,he pulled up a couple of times and it looked quite a nasty injury on both occasions,he finally came off after the 2nd time he went down and Donovan came on,but coulnt really get into the game at that stage.
The blues did dominate the latter stages of the game, but you have to give Birmingham City a lot of credit for the way they battle and they do have some useful players in there set up.
So were it leaves us in the race for that coverted Europa League spot is anybody's guess, but 3 points here would of really had the Villa's and City's and obviously the Red shower from across the park nervously looking over there shoulder's....
