DAVID MOYES HAS SPOKE OF HIS DISAPPOINTMENT IN SATURDAY'S DRAW WITH BIRMINGHAM CITY...........

Manager David Moyes bemoaned the two "simple" Birmingham goals which denied Everton victory at St Andrew's.

The Blues boss was impressed with the way his side played their way into a two-goal lead through Victor Anichebe and Yakubu, but was frustrated to be pegged back as Cameron Jerome and Craig Gardner struck to keep The Toffees two points adrift of Alex McLeish's eighth-placed side.

"We conceded a diabolical first goal," said Moyes. "We didn't block a cross, we were too deep and it ended up trickling in at the back post. That gave Birmingham a lifeline when it was really all us up to that point.

"Anichebe's was a really good goal, a really good move leading up to it - maybe 10 or 12 passes in the build up to that goal - but they've scored with a kick up the pitch and a flick on. But you get the same result, you still get a goal for it, it doesn't matter how you do it.

"We played some nice stuff but I didn't think we were clinical enough. I thought we let [points] go when, in truth, it should have been a comfortable afternoon for us."

Everton had two penalty shouts for handball turned away by referee Lee Probert early in the second half and Moyes added: "They hit their arms but whether the referee gives them or not is a different thing."

Victor Anichebe limped off in the second half, while the returning Tim Cahill was also substituted. But Moyes said it was too soon to know whether either have picked up a problem.

"Tim's calf stiffened up and Victor went over on his ankle," he said. "But I don't know any more."
