Phil Brown admitted he was happy to win ugly to gain three points at Fulham on Wednesday night.Hull ner were outplayed for much if the game against Fulahm, but found a winner when substitute Manucho popped up with a vital goal in added time to earn a 1-0 win, Hull's first in the league since December 6th.
"It was one we had to grind out," said Brown.
"We've been in decent form recently and been turned over, so last night wasn't about being pretty, it was about winning.
"I wouldn't have said we deserved to win, but a clean sheet will always get you somewhere near winning.
"Full credit to the defence for that and to Manucho for coming on and scoring the winning goal.
"People have talked about us only winning one in 18 before last night, but I knew that one win wasn't our only good performance. We must have had 13 or 14 good performances in that run.
"Last night wasn't a good performance. We've played much better than that and lost.
"Keeping clean sheets between now and the end of the season is going to be important. I think that was our fifth and if we can go on a run of keeping clean sheets, we'll drag ourselves away from the problems we've had.
"The Premier League isn't a charity. It won't give you anything, you have to earn it. To win the game in the latter stages is cause for celebration.
"We've got 32 points now, we have to build on this."
