In what could be one of the major boosts of the season, it has been revealed by the Echo that the Imps are on the verge of securing five deals for players. Whilst two loanees are set to come in from Fulham, a Cottager that's already here is expected to sign permanently, as well as Chris Herd signing an extended deal with the club.
It would be a good way to start off the new decade with the permanent capture of Watts. Having been involved in Fulham's Europa League campaign this season, he would be considered a player with huge potential as it was obvious that Hodgson started thinking about him for the first team at Craven Cottage.
He is expected to sign a deal that would take him up to the summer of 2012, with Fulham more than likely receiving a sell-on fee if Watts leaves during that time.
Joining him would appear to be Cian Hughton. The youngster was offered a six month deal, but has managed to convince Sutton to give him a deal until the end of next season.
Chris Herd is also expected to extend his loan from Aston Villa.
Finally, Michael Uwezu and Matt Saunders are expected to join from Fulham on loan. Both of whom are strikers, Uwezu having a particularly good reputation having scored 11 goals in 18 games for Fulham's reserves this season.

With Brown and Burch looking like they are on their way, we need to sort out the goalkeeper and left-back positions and also make sure we don't overdo the loans so we can start to field a more settled team. We've got some winnable games in January as well as an FA Cup game to look forward to so let's hope for a much better 2010.
