Birmingham City play host to Newcastle United tomorrow night in the 8pm kick off. Both teams will be looking to walk away with 3 points, as a win will re-jig the bottom of the table. Birmingham are currently 17th in the Premier League, just 2 places and 2 points below Newcastle and both teams are vying for 14th place by the end of the evening.
Should Birmingham grasp a home win they will be lifted into 14th place, pushing Newcastle down into 16th, however if Newcastle take 3 points back to the north east with them they will take 14th place.

Birmingham have the upper hand on goals scored, whilst Newcastle have a poor record when it comes to goals conceded, something Alex McLeish's men will be looking to exploit at St Andrews. In addition to goals scored and conceded, Newcastle are yet to win a game since travelling to Fulham on 15th December 2007, which means no wins under the management of Kevin Keegan. In their last 6 games Newcastle have lost 5 and drawn just 1. In these games they have conceded 17 goals and scored just 3. Birmingham have conceded just 11 but scored 10.
Newcastle welcome back Joey Barton, whose bail conditions prevented him from participating in last weekend's defeat at Anfield. There is also the possibility of seeing Mark Viduka return to the pitch after being sidelined since January 2nd when he sustained calf and hamstring injuries. His return however may mean that Obafemi Martins who is still pushing for a regular starting place is cast aside. Steve Harper remains in goal.
Keegan said of Viduka, who is yet to feature in his side:
"When you have got a small squad, like we have, one player coming back makes a big difference, and especially a forward as we haven't been scoring enough goals. He brings with him a goal threat different to any other player we have got at this football club.
He can score goals in tight areas and he can hold the ball up well. He is very, very experienced. He is on the road back, and at this moment in time, provided we don't get any setbacks, will be available for selection on Monday night.
He knows what it takes to score goals in the Premier League because that is what he has done consistently over the years. I am just delighted to have him back. We nearly got him there about four weeks ago, but when he got to the crucial stage, he started to have minor problems.
They are all behind him now, I think. He is ready to now play a part in what is a nine-game season for us."
Newcastle are without James Milner who could be missing for up to 3 weeks with a foot injury, Stephen Carr (hamstring) Shay Given (groin) and Emre (calf) will all miss out.
Birmingham are without any new injuries but will lose Martin Taylor as he serves the final instalment of his 3 match ban imposed after his horror challenge on Arsenal player Eduardo. He remains their only absent player.

We still equalized, something we haven't done in a long time, we usually put our heads down and get beat off the park. Be proud we have a good shot at it now cause the first half was below par, but its second half now...

Not good enough (for my liking) BUT a point on away for this team is a minor achievement at least and they didn't give up after conceding first. I want a full 3 from the next game though.

Enrique has made some progress, he played well today. Butt was also decent. Geremi was having problems with crosses and corners, not sure what the deal is.

I think everyone put in well in the second half.. except Viduka.. Hard for me to admit being Australian but I must say he never fills me with optimism when he's on the ball.. The second half performance was a good sign.. seems like one of Kev's half time bottlings did something for once.. And not a moment too soon.. Onward and upaward for the next month please..

We missed Milner's crossing today... and we are so short of pace in midfield.
Derby, Fulham and Bolton should be the three to do down.. we must beat Fulham on Sat. Man U and Man City to beat Bolton, next two games. Then hope Derby and Sunderland can beat Fulham too.
Bolton have the toughest fixtures left.
Man U (A), Man C (H), Arsenal (H), Villa (A), West Ham (H), Boro (A), Spuds (A), Mackems (H), Chelsea (A)

Look, I'm glad not to lose, but no way I can be happy with taking 1 from a team 1 above the line. That's garbage--I want to think we are better. Perhaps we aren't. We should have had 3 today and coming out as flat as a we did in the 1st was a joke.I find this to be a disappointing result. Really could have helped ourselved out beating a team below us.

Obafemi Martins definitely had a goal in him, if he had stayed on. He basically created Michael Owen's goal.
He also set up an attack which would have been a goal had Owen not been greedy and played him in. Instead he ran from goal and his shot got blocked.
Oba has definitely done more than Alan Smith has in this one game than the all the games smith has played in this season.

I agree with faheemusa, enrique had a ecent game, charles looked as sharp as ever when he came on. Owen was very poor but he got his goal.... typical play from owen, its what you want. I thought martins on the left was fantastic.
Tactis 2nd half was great, sit very deep and every clearance hit to martins! There was a few good counter attacks.

That's false, West Ham, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Chelsea have won at St Andrews. Chelsea were last team to do it on 19th January. Had 4 home games since then, drew 3 and won 1.
