Last week it was reported that Newcastle United had made a £2million bid for defender Herita Nkongolo Ilunga now French newspaper L'Equipe, claim Newcastle are continuing talks with Toulouse. The 5'11 defender originally from the Congo, joined Toulouse in 2007 from AS St Etienne, he played 35 games for the club in his debut season but is now open to a move away from the French side.
In a recent statement he said:
"I do not exclude leaving. If I do not play, at my age, that becomes annoying for the progression of my career."
He added:
"Toulouse understand my wish.
It is to play in the Premiership, to play in the best league is everyone's dream.
I also need to think about my family, I have to provide for them like all Africans do when they make it.
However, I want to leave in good spirits with their blessing, so hopefully they are talking and it will be fine, I think. I never cause trouble so my bosses will understand."
Weekend newspaper reports also suggest that Celtic remain interested and are prepared to put a £3million bid in to fight off Newcastle's attention.
