"James Milner Won't Be Leaving Here"

Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan has reiterated that midfielder James Milner is going nowhere. In his latest interview prior to United's first game of the season, Keegan announced that he is confident the 22 year old will remain a Newcastle United player.

Aston Villa had reignited their interest in Milner who spent a loan spell at Villa Park in 2006 and were rumourer to be preparing for a £7million bid, but have now been told to steer clear as Milner is staying put.

Keegan said:

"He is the last player that Newcastle United want to sell, and I'm talking about the owner and myself, James Milner won't be leaving here, I'm sure of that."

Confirming the departure of Abdoulaye Faye and potential sale of Shola Ameobi he said:

"It looks like Abdoulaye Faye is going to Stoke and Shola Ameobi has been given permission to speak to Ipswich Town,

But that's the end of players going out, and if those deals do happen, there will be some more players coming in."

2 signings to replace them as well as the 2 or 3 we needed before them leaving or once Ameobi has left.

nathan, maybe, since they were both keen to leave, and the club allowed both to speak to other clubs readily, they had already been counted as gone when that statement was made?

i wonder whether we'll actually get anyone, but whatever happens i cant see 4 or 5 coming in.

a versatile defender (able to play left and centre half - distin would have done but we missed out last year) and an attacking mid would be nice

I for one would snap anyone's hand off at 9 mill for Milner, he aint that good - tries hard, but already pails into Jonas's shadow.

Needs to momve to CM from the wing as not enough pace to beat full back

Signing players at this stage of the transfer window isn't actually that hard due to the latter of players and clubs refusing to negiotate untill they've looked at every possible option and that's why we always see multiple last minute transfers.

If we sell Milner, who is our right-footed free kick taker? Who in this squad his engine, work ethic, two-way ability? I tell you: no one. I'm a bit puzzled as to the comparison with Jonas. They're quite different players, Milner has been moved around the midfield this preseason, and we've seen Jonas in exactly one competitive match. Keep them both, I say.

Not really sure if all are fit if he will play - and at 10mill you have to sell and replace him with quality. Christ you could get Arda turan for that price

I think there is still a lot to be seen from Milner and if anyone, KK will bring it out of him. Milner has the athletic ability and has the heart. He just has not yet had a manager to guide him the right way and I believe KK will do that for young James. Hope the boy has a break through season and bags a few crackers
