Given Given Permission To Talk To City

Newcastle United goal keeper Shay Given has been granted permission to engage in talks with Manchester City after handing in a transfer request earlier today. The 32 year old Republic of Ireland International has made it very clear that his ambitions are not being met on Tyneside and that Manchester’s mega-rich club is where he would most like to be.
Today City manager Mark Hughes confirmed that the side had placed a bid for Given, but that they had yet to hear back from Newcastle as to whether they would be accepting it or not. Earlier in the week Kinnear confirmed a bid had been made in the region of £5million, which he called “insulting” and he denied reports that the club had been offered anymore.
He said;
“We have had approaches for Shay – serious approaches from Man City. Irrespective of all the stories, they've offered £5m and not a penny more. We think it's an insult to offer that for the best keeper in the Premier League. It's a derisory offer. But Shay has made it clear he wants to leave.”
Today he added;
"Shay is on the treatment table but we've given him permission to talk. That's as far as we've gone."
Given has made 461 appearances for the club since he moved there in 1997.

2. wait for other offers, in the knowledge that the club is in no rush and will not need to generate funds by your sale. take time to get the right club and the right manager.
or, 3. jump ship to a relagation fight at nufc in a swap for shay. you'll soon find out which division you'll end up in, and with which manager and which players. who knows, it could be fun!

I now wish him all the luck in the world but i am glad we never gave him any more money than we needed too
He wont win anything with Citeh and he'll find it harder to keep Hart out of the team than he ever did with Harper.
Stupid sod would have been better off staying here.
Can't figure out the point of his mad dash to leave before this window closes. City aren't in Europe, won't win the league and won't even necessarily finish ahead of us.
I hope they go on a skid and get relegated, I really do.
