Barton Suspended Until Further Notice

Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton has been suspended by the club until further notice after being sent off against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon for a stupid tackle on Xabi Alonso. After the match, manager Alan Shearer was visibly angered by the incident refusing to make eye contact with Barton as he left the pitch and then commenting briefly on it during his post match interview.
Speculation has increased over the Bank Holiday as to whether there was some kind of conflict between Shearer and Barton, with newspapers fuelling the row. However the club have only confirmed the suspension and not the reasoning behind it.

"Newcastle United can confirm that Joey Barton has been suspended from the club until further notice.
The club will be making no further comment on the matter at this time."
Shearer said in his post match interview;
"Barton wasn't unlucky to be sent off, it was the right decision. We will be without him for the rest of the season and I'm not happy at all.He has let me down, definitely, and the same goes for the whole club and himself. From a disciplinary point of view, I will do whatever I can."
It is alleged that Shearer made it very clear to Barton prior to the match, not to make any reckless challenges, knowing the consequences it would have on the rest of his season. Barton will now face a 3 match FA ban for the straight red meaning he will not play again this season.
