Owen: People are justified to have a go - in part!

Former Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has finally admitted he could have done more to keep the club from relegation. Owen who is still being paid a fee by Newcastle, despite signing for Manchester United a week or so ago told The Shields Gazette, that whilst "he didn't set the world alight" last season, he isn't injury prone despite only played 79 games in 4 seasons.
The 29 year old said;
"In certain parts, people do have a justification to have a go at me. I didn't set the world alight in the last year at Newcastle. That is no one's fault but mine.
We were not playing well as a team, and I wasn't doing my bit either. There is no doubt I have had injuries in my career. But there is a long list of players that have had a broken metatarsal.
I was foolish trying to rush back for the World Cup and my leg had just come out of plaster. But I played 33 and 32 games in the last two years in a team that was not in Europe and did not go on a decent cup run.
Still I was continually labelled injury prone, which gets up my nose."

Aye, its very easy to say that when the dust has settled and the club is relegated
Admit it Mickey - you never really gave 2 fu<ks about our club, you only came here because Sven Goran Eriksson said that if you continued to warm the Madrid bench you maybe wouldnt go to the 2006 world cup.
Admit that it was your "plan" to come here for 1 season, go to the world cup and then move on to another club!!!
