Match Preview/Thread/Stats: Newcastle Utd v Sheffield Utd
By Tyne-Talk
April 4 2010
Newcastle United will be promoted to the Premiership tomorrow night if they win or draw and as a result Chris Hughton has indicated that he is likely to make some significant changes to the side. Newcastle host Sheffield United on the back of a 3-1 win at London Road on Saturday giving them their 4th win in their last 6 games.
Sheffield however, drew 0-0 with Barnsley and have won just 1 game in their last 6, losing 1 and drawing 4.
Hughton is set to name Wayne Routledge, Peter Lovenkrands, Jonas Gutierrez and Danny Guthrie tomorrow night whilst striker Andy Carroll is set to return after recovering from an ankle injury. Steven Taylor (knee/jaw) and Fitz Hall (knee) both remain absent.
Glen Little will be hoping to be named for tomorrow's big match, but despite playing well he hasn't managed to secure a regular place in the starting line-up and could find himself on the bench. Sheffield United have numerous injuries to contend with. Jamie Ward (hamstring) was struck down within 39 minutes of his comeback game and defender Paul Connelly will serve a suspension after being sent off against Barnsley on Saturday.
Other injuries include Henri Camera (groin), Ched Evans (shoulder), Toni Kallio (calf) and Gary Naysmith, Derek Geary and Ryan France who are all absent with long-term knee injuries.
Whilst Newcastle are preparing themselves for a top of the table finish by looking for the win, Sheffield are looking for a playoff place, which whilst not impossible would mean they need to pick up their form and 3 points at St James' Park is crucial.
Fact: Alan Smith could make his 250th league start whilst Kevin Nolan could make his 400th appearance.
Fact: Sheffield United have failed to score in their last 2 games and only 1 of their 54 goals have been scored in stoppage time.

Have y'all jumped forward yet (daylight savings v. standard time)? Trying to figure out what the starting time is out here? In short, does the game start in 45 minutes or 1 hour and 45 minutes?
ESPN360 has 2:45 Eastern Time as the start of their coverage. So the latter on your question.

Next game, I'd like to see some kids on the bench are in the starting XI.
Well done!

howay the lads

So it was in my opinion a certainty that a penalty would be given if Henderson grappled with him again.
and he did right under the ref's nose - Penalty!
