Toon Tie Tiote Till 2017

Newcastle United midfielder Cheik Tiote has signed a new six and a half year deal with the club, keeping him on Tyne-side until 2017. The Ivory Coast International spoke to the official website of his happiness at the deal and his experience in the Premier League. He said;

"I am very happy today to have signed this new deal with Newcastle United. The experience of playing in the Premier League has been better than I ever hoped it could be.

This is a great club and the fans have been brilliant - I have never known support like it."

Manager Alan Pardew was also pleased with the deal and added;

"Cheik has been immense for us this season and is exactly the type of player I want in my squad.

He is fantastic on the pitch and in the changing room and is vital for everything we want to achieve.

Cheik offers us strength and presence in midfield and has proved himself to be one of the best in his position in the Premier League.

He's adapted brilliantly to the English game and I'm delighted he's signed a new deal with us today."

I cant remember the last time I was so impressed by a player on a regular basis.

If I could only believe he would actually stay until the end of his contract I would be slightly happier.

I am not happy about shirts I think I mentioned but its not long since I forked out a considerable sum for toon tops with Carroll on the back.

I have to be honest here and state I dont buy the new toon tops I buy classic ones from Toffs instead.

They are better quality and frankly you dont need to replace them until the start falling to peices.

However I do have to by the kids new shirts and being a naturally tight sort I have been known to burst into tears at the announcmet of a new shirt.

I haven't bought a new shirt for a few seasons. The last one I bought was a boys aged 13 shirt.....

The quality has got poorer over the years

I have just bought a shirt from the last time we won the championship (1927) I adore it according to my wife I am sad, but so be it.

I hasten to add at this point its a replica and not actually from 1927

Quality has gone down hill. At the game in the January I was wearing my old (adidas) shirt from a couple seasons back, ("Martins #9"...(Sm164) ) and there were folks with the new ones everywhere. I was shocked how much nicer my shirt looked. The sponsor patch on the new ones look like it's made of plastic. Kinda pathetic...
