Cabaye Injury To Be Assessed By France

Newcastle United and French International Yohan Cabaye will be assessed by the National team's medical staff ahead of Tuesday's game against Bosnia-Herzegovina after an ankle injury in the first half of last nights game, saw him substituted in the 48th minute of France's 3-0 win against Albania.

Whilst there has been no official word on Cabaye's injury, the general consensus appears to be that it wasn't that serious, and that he was substituted as a precaution rather than allowing him to carry on, despite attempting to start the 2nd half of the game.

Laurent Blanc, French International Manager said after the game;

"We have injured players who may recover in time for Tuesday's game, though it will be hard. We will assess the situation and call up more players if necessary."

Blanc, however, does appear to be taking a sensible approach to injured players and has made assurances that Eric Abidal, who missed last night's game, would not feature on Tuesday if he is not 100% fit. Newcastle United fans can only hope that he takes the same approach with Cabaye and that if the 25 year old needs to be rested rather than risked, that he does so.
