Speculation: Reds in for Cardiff's Whittingham

According to recent reports Nottingham Forest are currently showing interest in Cardiff City man Peter Whittingham in a bid to bolster their midfield prowess.

Recent speculation suggests that Forest have made a bid for the attacking midfielder after their chances of signing rival Welsh club Swansea's Darren Pratley were all but scuppered by the interest of Premier League Wigan. 

According to various sources, positive progress is being made in agreeing terms with the club and the player is reportedly keen on the move.

Cardiff have been the victim of heavily documented financial woes over the past couple of seasons and the sale of talent is inevitable should the club avoid being tarred with the burden and stigma of entering administration. Cardiff are reportedly desperate to avoid the Football league imposed points penalty.

Whittingham joined the troubled Welsh club for £350,000 and has since established himself as a member of the first team. He has made 107 league appearances for the club.

The fee is rumoured to be significantly higher than that which Cardiff paid for the player, with £2m being the speculated approximate figure at this stage of negotiation.
