Wolves face Keith Curles Chester in Carling Cup

FORMER Wolves captain Keith Curle will bring his Chester City side to Molineux for the first round of the Carling Cup in August.

Keith Curle will return to Molineux as a manager for the first time since leaving Wolves in the summer of 2000.

The popular Wolves captain made 148 appearances in the old gold and black before moving on a free transfer to Sheffield United, Barnsley and then Mansfield.

He was given the managers job at Mansfield in 2002 but lasted just two years, despite leading the side to Cardiff in a Play-Off Final.

In May this year he took charge of Chester and will now set his sights on causing a huge upset when he brings himself, plus former striker Michael Branch to Molineux on the week commencing 22nd August.

Wolves were knocked out of the Carling Cup at Burnley last season during the famous spell in which Wolves missed eleven out of fourteen penalties.

In true fashion Wolves missed two penalties during the match at Turf Moore before missing another two in a Penalty Shoot-Out. Nigerian International Seyi George Olofinjana was the man who missed the decisive penalty.

Southampton make a trip to Southend, Norwich travel to MK Dons and Crystal Palace are at home to Walsall.
