Wigan set to increase offer for Cort.

WIGAN Athletic are stepping up their chase for Wolves striker Carl Cort, according to reports in some of today's papers.

Wigan have been linked with a move for Cort ever since they clinched promotion to the Premiership but have yet to see a bid even considered by Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey.

It was first reported that Wigan had bid £1.5M for the tall striker an then reports broke that Wigan had upped their offer to £2M.

However, considering Cort cost Wolves £2M in January 2004 and has just completed a season where he scored more goals than in any season previous, it's no surprise Wolves laughed off the reports.

Wigan however don't wish to give up and the News Of The World today states that a £2.5M bid is to be offered to Wolves officials next week.

Like the previous offers it is expected Wolves will turn down this offer too with Henri Camara being the only player Wolves are looking to unload.
