Club captain Andy Legg has been forced to leave Cardiff City.

The veteran wing-back had been in talks with the Bluebirds over a new contract, but the only offer he received was one asking him to take a 70% pay cut.

Legg has spent 5 excellent seasons with the Bluebirds, and has become a real fan favourite despite being a former Jack.

Despite his age, leggy always gives 110% in every game - and it is quite fitting that is last game for the club was the

Legg first came to Ninian Park in December 1998, signing on a free transfer from Reading.

The 36-year-old has had an eventful time with the Bluebirds, with 3 promotions, a relegation, and a playoffs defeat in his 5 years as a Bluebird.

He has also had 6 caps for Wales.

"It's a big wrench to leave Cardiff, I'm absolutely gutted," Legg, who has made 152 league appearances for the club. I think I deserve better than a 70% pay cut and I'm not prepared to sign a contract with them." said Legg.

"To be fair to Lennie Lawrence, he's been fantastic - I don't think he really wanted me to leave either - but 70% is a lot for me to swallow, I deserve better. I've had a great time at Cardiff. I love the fans down there, I love everybody who works at Cardiff.

"I just want to say a big thank you to all the fans who supported me."

Cheltenham Town and Peterborough United look the two most likely clubs to approach Legg.

A move to London Road would not be unfamiliar for Leggy, who spent a months loan with the Posh before signing for the Bluebirds.

Good Luck to Leggy in the future!
