With the senior squad out in Scandinavia for their
pre-season tour, a team of academy City players were in action for the
Bluebirds in a friendly match against Pontyclun. A superb hat-trick from Danny Thomas, gave City a comfortable 3-0 victory, and their second consecutive friendly win following the 2-0 win over Uefa Cup participants, Cwmbran Town. Thomas is seen as an excellent prospect for the future, and showed he has the makings to be a good striker with some neat finishing against a first choice Pontyclun XI. The game was organised as a testimonial match for Pontyclun right back Giuseppe Mele. An excellent attendance of approximately 400 spectators surrounded the Ivor Fields pitch, and the game was played in a very good spirit. Full Time - Pontyclun 0-3 Cardiff
