Looking forward to Wigan and beyond

Robert Earnshaw and Peter Thorne continued their excellent scoring record and the defence kept a welcom clean sheet as the Bluebirds stopped a three match losing sequence. With Crewe put to the sword attention now turns towards the visit of high flying Wigan on Tuesday evening.

Cardiff: Alexander, Weston, Vidmar, Gabbidon, Barker, Kavanagh, Langley, Bonner, Boland, Earnshaw, Thorne. Subs: Campbell, Croft, Prior, Collins, Margetson.

Crewe: Ince, Wright, Walker, Foster, Vaughan, Lunt, Brammer, Tonkin, Cochrane, Ashton, Edwards. Subs: Bell, Sorvel, Bankole, McCready, Varney.

Referee: A Wiley (Staffordshire).

This was a workmanlike performance and not a very exciting game, but three very valuable points. Cardiff will need to step up a gear when they meet Wigan at Ninian on Tuesday night, John Robinson and Alan Lee are being missed and their return in the future will be welcomed.

The crowd on Saturday were quiet, perhaps due to the lack of away following, and in all fairness Wigan will not bring many on a weekday evening. At least we have had some good press and no trouble off the pitch.
