Jones: "There Were Positives"

Newly-appointed Cardiff City boss Dave Jones was content with his side despite their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ipswich Town. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss was pleased with his side's display despite the defensive problems that resulted in the Tractor Boys' winner.

New Bluebirds boss Dave Jones was satisfied despite his Cardiff City side going down 1-0 at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The former Stockport County, Wolves and Southampton chief took positives from the reverse despite a defensive error leading to the only goal of the game mid-way through the opening period, with Nicky Forster allowed to turn the ball home from close-range after the Bluebirds failed to clear a free-kick.

"That might just be new players in and understanding, so I can't be too critical of the performance. There were more positives than negatives for us." said Jones.

"For the first game of the season, with a lot of new faces, there's something definitely there to work with. There's no better way to gel than to play games, but you have to learn your lessons."

Jones will be looking for a more polished performance from City as Leeds United, who beat Millwall in their opening Championship clash, visit Ninian Park in a game that promises to be a passionate affair for both sets of supporters.
