Shelton To Ponder Quakers Deal

Shelton Mathies has been offered a one year contract at the Williamson Motors Stadium and has returned to native Holland to consider his options.

Darlington boss David Hodgson has offered defender Shelton Mathies a one year deal at Darlington, but the player has requested time to think it over, and has returned to Holland for to make the decision.

Mathies, who played as first half substitute in Craig Liddles testimonal game against Middlesborough impressed immidietly after coming on for the Quakers legend. Although the game was cut short due to a bomb scare, Hodgson felt that he has seen enough to offer the player a one year contract.

If the player can agree terms with Darlington, it will add more competition to a tough backline including Joey Hutchinson, Matt Clarke, David McGurk, Ryan Valentine and newly signed full back David Duke.
