How are you club fairing in comparison to this stage last season. John Wo reviews the first quarter of the season and compares it to WP clubs' positions this time last season.

With most of the clubs in the WP having now played 9 matches this season, I have produced a table comparing the clubs’ start this season to last season’s start. (approx a quarter of the season gone).

Table 1 gives the difference in points for the same number of games played at the beginning of this season and the beginning of last season. For example, Aberystwyth have gained 8 points more after 9 matches this season than they did after 9matches last season. Newtown have gained 1 more point after 8 matches this season than they did after their first 8 matches last season.Cwmbran have gained 6 points less after 9 matches this season than they did after their first 9 matches last season.

Table 2 gives the average difference as points per match. Although this is more accurate, the only difference is that Barry and Port Talbot swap positions.

For example Aberystwyth & Haverfordwest are averaging 0.88points more per match this season than at the equivalent stage last season. Port Talbot are averaging 1.55points less per match this season than at the equivalent stage last season.
