Cash-Strapped Citizens Appeal To Fans

Cash-strapped Bangor City have warned fans that they must raise several thousand pounds or face a dramatic wage cut at Farrar Road and expectations of only mid-table stability for the ex-Welsh Premier champions.

Citizens Chairman Ken Jones told the Daily Post "This season, our gate income has dropped by £15,000. When added to other falls in our overall income, it means that the club will be working on a reduced base figure when we assess funding availability ahead of the 2004/05 season". He added "Either we all pull together to raise funds, or we work on a budget in line with our basic income projections with a mid-table objective for the coming season."

This is yet another blow to City fans as they head towards their final league game of a relatively poor season which has failed to bring European football or any Cup success to Farrar Road. A meeting has been planned for between the board and manager Peter Davenport to assess where the club have failed in a season that has seen several star players such as Lee Hunt leave for rival clubs. Coupled with a horrendous injury crisis mid-season, this is a season that City fans will want to forget.
