East Fife fans, critics and league opposition were sent a clear message with the Methil Men replying to last week's freak 4-0 home defeat to Albion Rovers with a resounding 5-0 victory away to Montrose seven days later. The result signals the league leaders bubble has anything but burst...

Following a poor, scoreless first half, East Fife came out in the second half, all guns blazing.

Captain Crag Farnan opened the scoring in 54 minutes with a sweet strike.

On the hour mark, an inspirational Gordon Love crossed for fan-favourite Grant Cunningham to head home.

Kenny Deuchar converted a penalty to make it 3-0 on 77 minutes. Montrose were reduced to 10-men.

James Herkes added a fourth 2 minutes later with Montrose managing to get another man sent off at this piont for dissent.

The win was sealed on full-time as Love set up Herkes for number five.
