Fixture News

With continuing uncertainty over Leigh Genesis' home ground until the new Leigh Sports Village stadium is opened in November, several fixture alterations have been confirmed this afternoon for the club's upcoming UniBond Premier League home fixtures.

With the news emerging last week that Hilton Park is no longer considered fit to host any further sporting events, Leigh Genesis have again found themselves on the road after Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Chorley to Whitby was the fourth home game to be moved to an alternative venue this season.

The long-awaited home clash with local rivals FC United of Manchester, originally scheduled for Tuesday 7th October, has now been postponed to take place at a later date this is yet to be confirmed, although it is likely to only take place once the club have moved in to their new premises.

With that move unlikely before mid-November, the club have made moves to again secure a move to Victory Park, which has already hosted three Leigh games this season, with the home of UniBond League Division One North side Chorley hosting the home game with ex-Football League outfit Boston United on Saturday 11th October, along with the fixture with Marine on Tuesday 28th October.

Travel details will be confirmed nearer to the time via both the unofficial and official club message forums.

It was more of a long cut.

Didnt help when we got best part of a mile away at the top of College rd dickos satnav saying we had reached our destination followed by Mozzo telling me he had seen floodlights down a side street, only for the 'floodlights' to be lights on a railway line

At least you found College Road, we tried following the signs to Marine AFC which actually send you straight on at the mini roundabout instead of turning left!

Maybe its a trap so drivers are sent down the wrong road and into an ambush! they did start singing 'oh leigh' last night afterall

It was the first time I had used Satnav so im catching up with modern technology. Have you seen those new mobile phones that have a colour screen?

They have phones that are mobile now?

I'm refusing to buy SatNav for as long as possible, but I can see myself crumbling sooner rather than later!

Depends where you get your directions from - AA are abysmal and the RAC website is nowhere near as good as it used to be.

Glad you're happy Dave, but it means three Saturday's in a row where I won't be at a Leigh game...unthinkable!

No game for Bolton that day either so it looks like another random non-league game!

Boston game was meant to be the 11th, Mick - we're away at Buxton this weekend.

Ended up at Droylsden-Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday, not sure which FA Cup game to go to on the 11th though!
