Young left sided player who, having previously represented the Leigh Genesis reserve side, made his first team debut in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round tie with Cammell Laird in November 2008.

Parkinson made his full league debit just a week later as Genesis lost 3-0 to North Ferriby United in a UniBond Premier League game played on November 8th at Hurst Cross, home of Ashton United.

Parkinson scored his first goal for the club in a thrilling 2-2 draw away to Whitby Town on Saturday 15th November 2008, scoring twice more in Leigh's next game on Monday 15th December as Genesis defeated neighbours Atherton Collieries 2-0 in the Lancashire FA Trophy.

Parkinson left Leigh Genesis in February 2009 after failing to secure a regular first team place.
