JOHN LAWLESS

Twenty eight year old attacking midfielder John Lawless, who was managed by Maddox at previous side Formby last season, joined Leigh Genesis on 22nd July 2010.

Prior to joining Formby, Lawless was an impressive performer for Evo-Stik Premier League side Marine and an FA Trophy winner with Burscough whilst also playing for Colwyn Bay, Aberystwyth Town and TNS, coming up against boyhood heroes Liverpool for the latter in a Champions League tie in July 2005.

Lawless made his Leigh debut in the 2-1 home defeat to Curzon Ashton at Crilly Park on Saturday 21st August 2010, the opening day of the 2010/2011 Evo-Stik League Division One North season.

Lawless' first goal for the club came with a magnificent free kick in a 4-1 Evo-Stik League Division One North defeat to Trafford on Saturday 4th September 2010, three days before he found himself on the scoresheet from open play with the winning goal in a 1-0 home win over Garforth Town at Crilly Park on Tuesday 7th September 2010.

After scoring eight goals in nineteen games for Leigh, Lawless left the club in December 2010 to rejoin former club Formby.
