Wigan-born youngster, formerly with Southport, who joined the Leigh Genesis Youth side for the 2010/2011 season and made his debut as a substitute in a 1-0 President's Cup defeat away to Skelmersdale United on Tuesday 21st September 2010.
Carney made his full debut in a 2-1 Lancashire FA Co-Operative Challenge Trophy defeat at home to neighbours Atherton Collieries on Tuesday 28th September 2010.
Carney's league debut came in a 3-2 win over Trafford at Crilly Park in the Evo-Stik League First Division North on Tuesday 25th January 2011, where he assisted Nathan McDonald for the winning goal.
